This isn't virtual, emulated, Dosbox type computing. This is original old school PC computing at it's finest.
The CF-45 was one of the earliest Toughbooks. This is the Mk3 of the CF-45's.
Nice machine. Boots up quickly. It's from the late 90's/early 2000's believe it or not, even with the o...lder styling, but Panasonic is known for not updating styling often. These weren't the "tough" toughbooks with the handles, more like the "semi" tough. They were used alot in Police Cruisers and such from my understanding, which is kinda cool. Also, I read that they were like $3000 when they were new, which is crazy to think about.
This guy is one of the last laptops to have a trackball mouse. It's awesome to use.
Has front headphone jacks, 2 pc card slots, parallel, serial, and external display ports. Able to use either a usb or ps/2 mouse and or keyboard if you don't like the trackball or the laptop keyboard. Also IR communication and expansion bus port replicator for an adapter you can set the CF-45 on to, in fact I saw them on eBay for sale.
Boots to bios and a clean, fresh install of:

Comes with a home made power supply, from parts I had lying around. Not OEM but is safe to use and works just fine.
Does not come with a battery.
But does have a brand new cmos/rtc battery.
I burned to cd, the original drivers, software and documentation I was able to find online for the CF-45 plus Windows 98 SE and Windows Millennium if you choose to upgrade.
(issues associated with the aging process)
* The 3.5 Floppy drive is a bit finicky, sometimes it reads and sometimes it doesn't. But with the CD-Rom and USB
working you'll hardly need it.
* Has some case damage. Cracks, scuffs and scratches. See pics.
* Missing the OEM battery and hdd covers from the bottom but I fashioned something out of plastic and tape to protect the ram and hdd, works fine.
* The display has a single solid blue line running down it. (see pic)
Has an optional VGA out for an external monitor which works great. And is really the better option if you're near a monitor. VGA cable also included.
Glad to have saved this from the recycling/scrap yard. So sad to see people throwing these old computers out for the "precious" metals and such inside. They can never be replaced.
