Original Description:
Pre Columbian, Chemically Tested/Positive Result, Costa Rican, Nicoya Polychrome Ware, Choice functioning, "rattle leg" tripod bowl, 1687 grams, 6 1/8 inches in height, 9 1/2 inch rim diameter, 1 1/4 inch bowl depth, 3 1/4 inch foot width (top), 2 inch foot width (bottom).  I have studied every square millimeter of this artifact, there are no missing pieces, breaks, repairs, or cracks, I did note what appears to be two areas inside the bowl where the pigment has separated, this is... a non-issue.  The vessel boasts it's authenticity, excellent condition, size, beautiful pigment, excellent art work, and the expected weathering and deposits of antiquity.  Unless advised, all images are of the subject artifact, with no substitutions.  Photographs were taken by the seller utilizing a Canon Digital Camera and a laboratory quality AmScope, Trinocular Stereo Microscope, with a mounted microscope digital camera, mounted and remote lighting systems and appropriate Barlow lenses, (a photograph of the microscope is with my store page).  Photos 1 thru 7  were taken with the Canon camera, the images reflect the subject artifact positioned at different angles.  Photos 8 thru 12 were taken with the AmScope, the images reflect magnified and highly magnified photos of the bowls period correct clay/paste composition (yes), ancient pigment (yes), low temperature firing marks (no), root marks (no), earthly (yes) and manganese mineral deposits (yes).  Image 12 reflects the result of the chemical rest.  Comparable photographs of known/proven authentic clay/paste composition's, ancient pigment, low temperature firing marks, root marks, earthly and manganese deposits, etc., are available upon request.  With each listing I will attempt to understand whether the artifact is in fact ancient, I will visually, chemically and microscopically study the piece seeking the "tells" of antiquity which I will document for the purchaser.  I usually shoot about 20+ magnified and non magnified images of each piece, those images are also available upon request.  All purchases to North American locations will be shipped VIA- USPS/Canada Post insured and tracked service, or with either Fed/Ex, or DHL, I personally pack all my artifacts with great care and use the best shipping materials money can buy, all fragile and/or expensive pottery artifacts will be double boxed, I guarantee my shipping procedures.  Bidders/Purchasers residing outside the lower 48 U.S. States and Canada must advise, artifacts from my collection have been sold and shipped to art galleries in New York and Denver, and to residents of Germany, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Austria, Italy, and Russia, rates to Europe are at least double quoted figure as insurance and tracking is not negotiable, and I pack your artifact to survive intact.  I combine shipping and do not seek to profit from it, in the event my final shipping cost is exceeds collected funds, I will cover that cost... within reason.  As always if you have a question or a comment don't hesitate, in some cases please allow up to 48 hours for a response.  All posted information from one or more of my 250+ books on Pre Columbian/Meso American art and culture and/or the information from my JSTOR account.  Sellers comment:  This tripod bowl is from a collection I purchased well over 10 years ago.  I have chemically, and visually with and with out my microscope diligently inspected/studied this artifact, (including the testing of the manganese deposits in two areas) and I have determined that there is no chance this artifact is a replica or fake.  Your purchase will be double boxed, thanks for your interest in my collection.
