The company KW (1905-1980) was based in Solingen, near the French border in Germany. And amongst German manufacturers, Karl Wieden (with his multiple patents ) is surely one of the most famous, and interesting for collectors. The Logo at beginning was KW and later on became KAWEE, this is the KW "CLASSIC " patented in the mid 50's, the classic introduces the Ruetz system, ( Uses Liquid fuel, does not use cotton filling, and the wick never needs replacement ). K...W owned the rights to the Ruetz System, "No cotton wool, No wick, Burns for months" that was their slogan.Just another one of KW patents, the "Ruetz Wick" is actually a system with an incombustible wick, the Patent consists of a u-shaped curved tube filled of non porous, fireproof filaments of fiber glass that can support a countless number of ignitions. The "Ruetz"Wick also became known as "eternal Wick", "Carburator" or "Gasoline carburetor". It is a solid feeling quality lighter , as all of the KW are known to be. The lighter is in very good, unlit , and fully working condition, has a 935 (very high purity) silver sleeve with art deco floral decoration. in box. (see fotos) So here is your chance to add to your collection this (hard to Find in these condition) Collectable, KW lighter .
