A vintage tie with an unusual caricature by Florencio Molina Campos, an Argentine illustrator and a painter known for his scenes of rural life, especially gauchos, with a bit of whimsical humor. The artist became famous in Argentina doing paintings and especially for calendar work in the 1930s. He made an impression in the United States by the very early 1940s, partly by pairing with Walt Disney on Bambi and other short films. He began a long relationship with farm tractor and implemen...t maker Minneapolis Moline in 1943, for their 1944 calendar. This image appeared in that first calendar. Based on my research, the image and the rocking chair reference are unique to the Minneapolis Moline project. (I see the same image on an Argentine 1944 calendar, but with a different caption.) My guess then is that this tie was a Minneapolis Moline advertising piece. The image appears to be screen printed. It has a small crease in the printed image that doesn't detract much. There's a small hole in the blade, above the horse. Tie is 49x4.5. This auction is for the necktie only; the other material in the photographs is just information I turned up in my research.
