Very Rare Chinese purse with the "forbidden stitch"...Called forbidden because this type of needlework was eventually banned since it caused eye strain and potential blindness to the girls doing the intricate work. Dates back to the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. The purse has a small envelope style pouch with flap covers and front flap opening. This purse has two different designs on either side.
