Our estate briar and meerschaum pipes were well known at the West CoastPipe Show for several years. We have sold over 120 Dunhill and over 25 Charatan, Sasieni, Loewe, GBD, Stanwell, Savenelli, and many other fine pipes that were highly regarded. Our collection was by my wife Cynthia’s first husband Tom who died in 1979; he collected from 1955 to ...1975. Recall that during this time that Turkey was producing a large amount of high quality meerschaum and then supplies dwindled drastically and the carver craftsmen of Europe were hard pressed for a supply. It is now time to pass this pipe on to one of our fine collectors as we need to finance health issues. Please follow us on EBay for more releases. The subject of this old carved meerschaum is the popular human skull nd some were carved in charming, sometimes remarkable detail as is the case with this antique pipe. It has a beautiful stem material that looks like amber but may be synthetic - in good condition. The length is 6.0 in., the bowl height is 2.0 in., the outside diameter is 1.4 in., the bowl depth is 1.4+ in., the weight of the pipe is about 1.4+/- oz. It has a gold band between the stem and the shank. (See photos)This block meerschaum pipe is in pristine condition for its age and appears to be smoked hundreds of times as evidenced by the tan and reddish chocolate brown coloration. The quality of the carving suggests it was done by a very skilled carver. Even the custom wooden case has a carving on it - looks like a dragon - there is a chevron on the other side with a T-K painted symbol that may be a clue to its origin and date of manufacturer. Based on a recent, pipe enthusiasts opinion, we had to raise the price a bit. We welcome commentary on this pipe’s age and quality. Condition is Used. Shipped USPS.
