For sale is an exceptionally nice Stanley Bailey No. 5 1/2C hand plane. This is a very versatile size which can be used for roughing work, jointing, or smoothing. David Charlesworth calls this a super smoother and uses this size to smooth wide panels. This plane is the desirable Type 11 made between 1910 and 1918. Chris Schwartz says that this is his favorite type. It is pre WWII and has a thick heavy base. The blade features the iconic “V” logo and has plenty of life left. The ros...ewood on the plane is remarkable as well. The front knob features high contrast lighter and darker rosewood and there is a spot of light wood on the tote. The Japanning is 95+% in tact and all original! As with any 100 year old tool, there are signs of age and use, but this plane was clearly cared for. There is a fine superficial crack on the knob, but it does not go all the way through and the tote is nearly flawless. This would make a fantastic user and is nice enough to be a show piece in a collection. US shipping only.
