This lot is for an imported desktop: AMD 386/DX-40 MHz. I brought it over from Poland in original spec without a hard disk. To make it as close to the ROM BIOS date (mid 1991), I installed a Western Digital Caviar 2120 hard disk, also from 1991. I also added a 4x CD ROM driven off an OPTi soundblaster compatible soundcard, an IDE ZIP100 disk system, and installed all drivers for DOS 6 and Windows 3.1. I ran memory optimization and, speaking of RAM, I added 4Mb for a total of 8Mb. Outwardly, I cleaned the case up and applied retrobrite to the front panel. It looks really good, practically new. The case is in 8/10 condition, some minor nicks and scratches, not too bad for something that's 28 years old.
LED readout indicates 40 in Turbo mode, 386 in non-turbo mode.
The original CMOS barrell battery has been found to have no corrosion on it and register 3v, evenly. I have little doubt that this is, in fact, the original battery, and shockingly intact. There is no leakage on the motherboard, and for the future owner I have taken the luxury of soldering wires from the motherboard to the relocated CMOS barrel battery: I'm not taking any chances with it, it can leak at any time, and we must deal with it. I've easily left enough cabling for future retrofitting without having to disassemble and remove the motherboard.
The computer will come with a 17 inch LG Flatron L1715s, a serial mouse that tracks well and is clean, and a Compaq PS/2 Windows 95 keyboard, power cables, and three ZIP100 diskettes, working and tested, to help out that 125 Mb hard disk's storage situation.
All cords included, all drives work, system is configured to be played on out of the box.
