Online review: "Midway: Battle for the Pacific is a fantastic book. It’s about how the United States defended the island of Midway from the Japanese fleet. It tells you about how the battle was planned strategically, both good and bad strategic decisions. It tells you how many boats each side had, who had which boat, how many sank, and what bombs the planes had. It tells you who was in control of the carriers, some... of the pilots, and how many planes were lost. The only that thing I didn’t like about the book was that it took about three or four chapters to get to the fighting. But in the chapters before the battle, it talked about how they prepared for the battle. The author tried to show how tough the U.S.A was, even with the few ships it had in the Pacific fleet compared to a bigger Japanese fleet. He succeeded in doing so by telling the true story of the turning point in the pacific side of World War II. I recommend this book to all history lovers and non-history lovers out there." Book is in fair/acceptable condition with some slight page yellowing. The spine needs to be reattached solidly to the body of the book. All pages are in good condition with no water damage or tears. The corners of the hardback cover show some wear.Copyright 1968, Landmark Books #119, Random House
Overall a good addition to any military/World War II aficionado. Hard to find.
