Offered forsale is a vintage, 1933 Parker Brothers “Hendrick Van Loon’s Wide World Game”PLUS a copy of Hendrick Van Loon’s hardcover 1932 book “Van Loon’s Geography, The Story of the World We Live In”. Game includes:· Game board: unfolds to 17” x 26” – some wear on thecover, but the colors are still bright; some marks on the game board - see picture· 12 green movementcard...s with “Hendrick Willem Van Loon” and ship stamped on back· 12 pink movementcards + 1 blank with “Hendrick Willem Van Loon” and airplane stamped on back· 6 original manilatickets – 4 in excellent condition, 1 partially discolored, one with ½” ripwhich does not interfere with readability· Originalinstructions – excellent vintage condition· Original ad for“Other Popular Parker Games”· Original box withinsert for playing pieces – discolored, ripped on edges some of which have beenrepaired with tape· 4 original metalships – some paint wear, please examine pictures· 3 original metalairplanes + 2 later metal airplanes – all have some paint wear, please examinepictures; ORIGINAL PLANES (3): a yellow and green plane with bases intact; 1blue plane with broken base (base is included). LATER PLANES (2): We have alsoincluded blue and red metal planes from a later version to make a “complete”set.Also included as a bonus is a bookwritten and illustrated by Hendrik Van Loon called “Van Loon’s Geography, TheStory of the World We Live In”, published in 1932. It is 525 pages, includes hand drawn maps, some in color. The book is in Goodcondition, no musty smell. There is awater stain on the cover and one page in the front is loose. Owner’s name is on a bookplate inside the frontcover, and written in pencil on the opposing page. This is an interesting companion to the WorldWide Game.
