With the opening of King Tut's Tomb in the early 1920s all things Egyptian became the rage and effected women's clothing, hairdos, makeup, and both men's and women's jewelry. A popular embellishment was the iridescent scarab beetle, used in men's tie pins, women's hair adornments, bracelets, necklaces and pins. This real scarab is in excellent condition, in a small gold colored bar pin, prong set in the proper way so one can see the underside of the beetle when the pin is flipped to th...e back. Measuring 1 1/2 inch in length, the beetle is well defined and a beautiful dark green shade.
