The man that I bought this from said he took it off a door on an 1800's house when he replaced the door.It is mounted on a wood block with an brass backer plate.It measures 9" long and about 4-1/2" wide.It is very heavy and has the original striker rest that shows considerable wear from the years of banging on the door.A great piece and as found recently at a moving sale.
