CANON 50mm 3.5 - L39 LTM MOUNT - VERY, VERY RARE! CANON 50mm 3.5 RANGEFINDER LENS L39 LTM - MINTY!1940s - VERY, VERY RARE! An excellent example of this amazingly desirable Canon rangefinder lens from the 1940s! An amazing bit of kit this one. A very very rare lens, offered here in the best condition that I have ever come across. much sought after for use on digital bodies such as the lovely Olympus OMD-EM1 and EM5 and Panasonic G...s and GFs which I have for sale in my other auctions. Still in stunning condition after almost 60 years, this incredible lens is raring to go to work for you! This is a very rare lens and a delight to use, there are much more complicated lenses, but when it comes to just simply creating the image, the simplicity of a manual rangefinder lens will always win out. This stunning classic lens does what only the very best do, it becomes part of the photographer's eye, the camera itself disappears and it gets you right into your subject, rather than creating a barrier to it. The 50mm 3.5 was one of Canons earliest in house lenses as they moved away from Nikkor glass and sought to take on Leica in their own right. Developed using the classic Leica Elmar as a template, today it is a rare find. It is of course at home not just LTM rangefinders, but with an adapter, on the M series, right up to the M9, M240 and 'M10', as well as Micro four thirds, Sony NEX, Sony A7 and A9 and other compatible digital bodies, each offering a unique symbiosis of old and new! This particular example is in exceptional condition, having very obviously been carefully looked after. Optics are in excellent condition, with no marks visible at all. The front element glows with the a lovely blue coating. The body remains in very good condition, there are no marks or brassing at all. The collapsing mechanism and infinity lock work perfectly. All markings are present and enjoy excellent contrast.Mechanically, the focus movement is nicely balanced, incredibly so for such a vintage lens, and as with all the best rangefinder 50's features a lock at infinity. The aperture stops from f3.5 down to f16 with no fuss at all, opening and closing an iris formed by no less than ten blinds, forming the perfectly round aperture which gives the best rangefinder lenses their legendary Bokeh. Held up to the light, there is no dust visible internally at all and there is absolutely no sign of any fungus or oil at all. The lens will be supplied with caps as shown, ready for you to get to work! So there you have it, a very rare opportunity to acquire an incredibly rare Canon Rangefinder lens excellent condition, not one to be missed! Of course, lenses of this vintage and superlative pedigree and condition take us deep into the collector's realm, so it should well be possible to buy this lens, enjoy it for many years before selling it on for more than you paid for it here, quality like this never goes out of style!Hopefully, the description and photos will answer any questions you may have, but please feel free to drop me an email if anything needs clarifying further.
