Rare Victor Lumiere Loud Speaker from 1925 for tube radios. Untested.Made by the Victor Talking Machine Company, this is Victor's first external model speaker Number 1.This has been well preserved and protected in it's original box, snugly packed in.
Beautiful old mahogany wood frame radio speaker uses the Lumiere pleated diaphragms instead of commonly used flat paper style.The thin pleated paper originally used in this type of cone is hardly ever found intact. Amazingly, both ...of these have survived almost 100 yrs fully intact!There's a beautiful marbleized pattern on this antique paper.
Pre-owned vintage radio speaker is pre-owned and is untested. Needs a cord. Since the cord is gone we have no way to test this so this is being sold "As Is" to be repaired.The brass regulator dial on top is resistant to movement but moves easily. Seems to be all attached inside as it should be.
This has it's original folded and pleated paper diaphragm, front and back paper are both firmly intact. There's a tiny hole in the top of the back paper, see photos 6 and 7 just under the 12 o'clock position.
The paper laminate on the bottom edge on the front seems to be just starting to flake a little in one area. There's some pinching of the pleats in that area nearer the center and possibly some non-original glue around the inner edge.If this is a repair it was done long ago.Please see pictures 1, 2, 3, and 4.
The mahogany wood cabinet is in beautiful condition with a few small areas of wear. Pictures 8 and 9.The brass button on the back diaphragm has a few small nibble nicks. Please see photo 2 and zoom in.The brass button on the front side doesn't have a tiny center spot like the back. Zoom in on pics 6 and 7.We treated the cabinet with Old English Oil and finished it with a rubbed orange wax.
The mahogany cabinet is 13" tall x 14 3/4" wide and 5" deep.The original shipping box is 16" tall x 17 1/4" wide x 7 3/8" deep.
Unpacked this item weighs 4 lbs 14 oz and it's box weighs 3 lbs 13 oz.Together unpacked these weigh 8 lbs 11 oz.
This will be shipped in it's original box which will be double packed inside another larger box with packing peanuts for safety.Ship weight will be around 10 1/2 lbs.
