Description - fancy cast iron and (chestnut?) wood, late Victorian, paper holder, a clipboard with spring-action release for the paper bar.“Mechanical” clip board - you press down on the board to release your papers. Used in shops, stores or factory for orders or bills. This was originally called a “Paper File” (many thanks to ebay user, C., for the great info!)Last pic is of the patent, viewable ...online & in the public domain. (Note construction is similar, but not exactly the same.) patent by B.PetscheFrom the estate of a New Jersey family which owned a drug store (pharmacy, apothecary), in Highland Park, NJ.Loops in the cast iron so it can be hung on the wall. 8-3/4” x 12” board. Shown with a postcard for scale. Postcard not included.All original, no restorations, no repairs.Cast in the mold on back: “P.N. MFG Co. PAT’D JUNE.18.1889.” (=The Pennsylvania Novelty Co.)Please all the photos, please.
