A collection of 8 x Ching Dynasty Chinese export, silver and gold inlay, mother of pearl games counters. A whole set supposedly gifted to the French Royal court from Imperial China in the 1780's. Chinese games counter engraved with images and set with precious metal in this form are extremely rare to find. This collection has been in the family for many years, originally purchased from a Parisian antiques dealer by my great grandfather sometime during the ww1 p...eriod. There are different images on each side.. both typical Chinese subjects of the period. My local auction house say they cannot find another example of this type of old Chinese games counter anywhere in the world..!! Their oriental specialists have never seen one and there are no documentary examples in published or printed resource archives..
