WW1 / WW2 German Imperial fighting / trench knife. Also known as the German Nahkampfmesser and was the German primary standard issue combat knife during WW1. Many of these knives were “carried forward” and used also during WW2. This knife shows period wear and use, including some old sharpening signs and the tip is ever so lightly blunted from use. The knife measures 9 3/4” in overall length, with about a 5 1/2” blade. The grips are hardwood slabs, with 9 grooves on each side, ...which was the official number of grooves on the German Imperial WW1 trench knives. The guard and handle slabs are tight, without movement or damage. The knife comes accompanied with its original metal scabbard, which is painted black. There is approximately 95% of the original finish remaining on the scabbard and there is no damage to the leather strapping or snap If there are any questions, please feel free to ask.
