Very Nice Condition Inside and Out!
Production Date 09/11/1972 - Early Serial Number # 4805 This stereo receiver known as the Baby Marantz has been Professionally Serviced by Crossed Paths Vintage and is in very nice condition. This is a wonderful unit that incorporates the classic Marantz warm sound with exceptional details and wide depth that is very impressive. Full working condition and an excellent ch...oice for the foundation of a stereo setup. This unit has been thoroughly tested in all modes and works wonderfully. This unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out as well as the internal controls have been professionally cleaned and properly lubricated to ensure excellent performance. All pots have been professionally cleaned and lubricated as well. All capacitors, transistors and resistors have been verified to be in spec and were replaced as needed. We use a stricter 5% tolerance when checking all parts to ensure a long future for your "new" vintage purchase. Most specifications allow for a +- 20% discrepancy and we use +- 5%. All solder joints have been checked for cold joints under magnification and reflowed where necessary including the high heat areas that notoriously fail if not maintained and serviced. We use Nichicon High Temp Electrolytic Capacitors (UPW, UKL, etc), Nichicon Muse Capacitors, Elna Silmic II Capacitors, Panasonic Electrolytic and Film Capacitors, WIMA Stacked Film Capacitors as well as Zetex, OnSemi and Fairchild semiconductors and Xicon 1% metal film resistors when needed. Bourns Multi-Turn and Sealed Variable Resistors (Potentiometers) are used for critical amp adjustment points. Omron Audio Grade Relays are used in the protection circuits. Most consider these the best choices for vintage restorations and we always upgrade the voltage and temperature minimums on capacitors when appropriate to provide even longer service than the originals. This unit is ready to go! This one owner unit came in working well, but we thoroughly go through the unit to ensure its longevity.
All knobs, switches, faceplate, dial section, bottom cover, internal chassis and input connections were detailed, deep polished and ultrasonically cleaned where appropriate. This cleaning process alone takes 4 to 5 hours with the complete dismantling of the unit.
All of the lamps were serviced while the unit was serviced and they look fantastic. All service manual calibrations have been performed throughout the unit and they are spot on. Both AM and FM tuners have been fully peaked and aligned and tracking is precise to the dial.
All inputs work as they should. This receiver includes a single input phono stage which is very nice indeed. It exhibits authority in the lower register while maintaining a very quiet overall noise floor. It will bring out the best of any turntable. Whisper quiet with exceptional reproduction of your coveted vinyl collection. The aux input and two tape inputs with one tape loop sounds wonderful as well...awesome sound and performance! The AM and FM tuners work great and pull in stations very well. Wonderfully rich FM sound with accurate dial tuning. The signal strength meter works accurately as does proper MPX stereo decoding and muting. Both tuners have been fully peaked and aligned to provide the best experience possible.
This unit comes ready to enjoy in very nice cosmetic condition with minimal wear and tear for a unit this age as shown in the pictures.
