Large Rare Vintage 1930s Eccles Type C. T. 33A Miners Safety Lamp Brass & Steel

In used condition with the sort of usage dings and darkened metal you would expect. Some superficial rust to the chimney but the metal is sound. The outer glass has a chip out of it but is in one piece.
It is marked "Type C. T. 33A Approved Under Lighting Schedule A33". "The Protector Lamp & Lighting Company Ltd. Eccles Manchester". The word British can be made out on the glass but other markings on the glass are obscured by the chip.
I have found information online w...hich dates this type to the 1930s. The design seems unusual (to me) in a number of ways listed below in italics.
The lamp is somewhat larger than others I have seen . It is 26.5cm(10.5") tall excluding the hook. It is 10.5 cm (4.3") wide at the base. It weighs about 1600g (3lbs 8ozs)
There is an inner and an outer glass. The inner glass is sound.
The lamp is locked a mechanism I have not seen before. There is double pillar which is locked by a small mechanism marked "patent". I cannot open ikg
The wick winder is a knurled screw in the base rather than the more common wire pusher. It turns but no wick is visible.
