Forexample, one of the major movie poster auction houses has sold 17 of the 1942release cards over the past 10 years. However, they have only sold ONE ofthese 1945 cards. In addition, the 1945 re-release cards have muchbetter graphics and better close-up scenes of the two main stars. Thisparticular card was NOT part of the 1942 release lobby card set. Itwas apparent Paramount was capitalizing on the new super stardom of Ladd andLake. Card is in excellent condition.

Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd heat up the screen in thistale written by Graham Greene. Alan Ladd, as the cruel protagonist, receivedfourth billing on the film, but was the true star of the picture. For VeronicaLake, this was the second film she made sporting her peek-a-boo hairstyle whichsoon became her trademark. Star billing has been accorded to Ladd for thereissue, replacing the originally top-billed Robert Preston
