An original autograph signature of Civil War GENERAL HERMAN HAUPT [1817-1905, ] one of the early pioneer railroad engineers. He graduated West Point in 1835, but soon went into civilian railroad construction, particularly the Pennsylvania Railroad, and later constructed the Hoosac Tunnel in Massachusetts.
