Here we have a very nice 1940's Swiss made Thorens automatic petrol table lighter in nickel plate with white onyx marble base and new flint.This vintage Swiss Thorens is in very nice, clean & working condition, the nickel plating is bright with only light pitting.It is an automatic lighter which lights at the press of a button and it has a blued steel double claw flint wheel mechanism.This Thorens table lighter is complete, it has been fitted with a new flint and has viol...ent throw with heavy sparking for wick lighting.The tall, round, white onyx base in in very nice condition with a few light scratches, there are no cracks or large chips.There is beautiful veining in the onyx with areas of brown, orange, white and grays, it measures 3 1/2" tall, 2 1/2" wide round & weighs 15.4 ounces.It was made in Switzerland in the early 1940's, THORENS FAB SUISSE appears on the hinge and MADE IN SWITZERLAND appears below the hinge.There is evidence of moderate use, the lighter does not have to be removed from the base for refueling as fuel goes into one of the sliding doors on the top.It appears to be all original with the exception of one screw at the hinge, the wick is near its end and will need replacing.This is a very nice 1940's Swiss Thorens automatic table lighter in nickel plate with white onyx marble base and it will make a nice addition to any collection.The vintage smoking pipe in our listing is for display purposes only and it is not included in this auction.
