For sale, is a vintage Vito alto sax Model 35. For those that may be unaware of these Model 35 Vito alto saxes, they were made in France. These are professional horns played by world class musicians like Ted Nash in the Lincoln Center Orchestra. Their price tag is far less of a cost than a Selmer Mark VI. In fact, the Vito company at the time this Model 35 alto was made in 1965 was right across the street from the Selmer Company; and I'm told that some of the same technicia...ns worked for both Selmer and Vito.
These horns playing well in tune; with a beautiful full tone. This alto is no exception. Johnny Hodges played these horns for years in Duke's band. This is a player's horn. The action is light and fast. The pads are in good shape. The horn is ready to be taken on a gig.
You're probably a better saxophone player than me, but here I am playing this VITO alto sax on a gig.

Parents: Why buy a shiny cheap student horn for your child that will fall apart in a year; When for the same price or less, you can have a professional horn that has a beautiful full alto sound that will last a life time.
Professionals: If you can't afford a Selmer Mark VI, you will be amazed what this horn will put out for you.It has a big, full, and rich tone. The body of the sax is in good shape. These are some dings/small dents on the bow of the sax. They have no effect whatsoever how this horn plays.
It also has beautiful pearls on the keys. The real valuable sought after vintage Vito alto saxes are the Model 35 and the Model 37 both made in France. Hodges played on both the 35 and 37. Through his life, he played many horns. You can recognize these horns by the neck brace on them that reads Vito on it; and the lettering on the bell of the sax must have the letters V I T O going down the bell; not across. These are the VITO altos that play better than any of the other vintage Vito altos.
