Hutschenreuther Dresden Sevres Style Floral Basket Maroon & Gold 10 3/4 " Plate B
Item History & Price
Hutschenreuther Dresden Sevres Style Floral Basket Maroon & Gold 10 3/4" Plate B
Beautiful large porcelain dinner plate. Hand painted with a basket with pink, blue, orange, yellow and purple flowers below large purple bow. Framed in gold gilt dots, scallops, and bands. There are three maroon bands with raised gold gilt stems. In between each maroon band are wide white bands with pink and gold gilt small flowers, and pink roses framed by gold gilt scallops and beading. Marked... on the reverse with a gold gilt Dresden type decorator's mark obscuring the original manufacturer's mark, and a pseudo Sevres blue conjoined double L with an F in the center. If you shine a bright light up to the front of the plate, you can see the manufacturer's mark below the gold mark. That mark is the Hutschenreuther Selb LHS mark used between 1925 and 1939. Hutschenreuther was known for selling blanks to Dresden decorating studios. This plate was probably decorated by Carl Thieme/ I have a Carl Thieme chamberstick listed separately that is in an almost identical pattern/
Has a few small spots of wear to the maroon and gold, but otherwise excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Measures 10 3/4 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display-ability of the piece.
