Original Description:
This is a Vintage 1950 PENN TOOL Co. U.S. ARMY (10th Mountain Division?) CLIMBING PITON HAMMER. It has some normal wear, But Overall Still looks Very Good. Comes with a Leather strap on the end of handle hole. Other that have sold are listed in the category for WWII items...but WWII ended in 1945...So, I believe this is from the Korean War Era, as it IS dated 1950. It measure 10 inches long overall...the head is 4 1/2 inches long, and 13/16 x 13/16 thickness (just over 3/4 in...ch bar stock). The head is attached to the handle with Metal Straps that run through the head on the front and back sides of the wood handle, and are bolted through the handle (see pics.). Add this one to your collection.
