Vintag 14K Gold Enamel 32 Degree Free MASON Band RING Masonic Dbl Eagle SZ 10.25In 14 karat yellow gold and black enamel, this Masonic Ring is both interesting and handsome. Rich with Masonic symbolism and meaning, it is regal and important looking. Surmounting the band on the front is a double headed eagle, which is an ancient symbol, likely representing a duality of power. Long used as a royal crest by Russia, Austria and other parts of the Hol...y Roman Empire, its well-known association with the Scottish Rite Masonry and its religious history began when Frederick of Prussia supplied it in the early years of the Rite. As a religious emblem, it signifies justice and truth. Graduated "rays" of black enamel on the band flank the eagle, further setting it off. Centered above the eagle's breast is an equilateral triangle with "32" within, for the Mason who has attained the 32nd Degree Master of the Royal Secret. The triangle, which also appears on the back of the ring, is important in masonry for its connection to the number 3, which is considered sacred and represents omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience, all attributes of God. Right side up, as here, the triangle symbolizes the Divine Man. The triangle on the back is embellished by engraved lines that surround and set it off, and is centered with the Hebrew letter "Yod, " representing the first letter of Jehovah, the sacred name of God or Lodge of Perfection. Inside the band is inscribed "Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit" which translates as "Whom virtue unites, death will not separate" signifying the fraternal bond of all masons. It is signed before that inscription with conjoined letters "GEA". It is a size 10.25 and measures about 1/4" wide. It weighs 7 grams. The former owner loved his masonic ring and wore it often, as will you. There are some losses to the enamel here and there, as shown in the photos: on the back, on one leg of the triangle and letter within; and on the front, around the number "32", as well as minor surface roughness in the design flanking the eagles. Apart from this, it is in Very Good vintage condition with just expected surface dirt, scratches and tarnish. Cleaning and polishing are left to the buyer's discretion. This ring is a wonderful example of Masonic jewelry and history. It would make a terrific gift, although I doubt you will want to part with it and will come to you in a gift box, just in case.
