My Father's US Air Force First Aid Kit. He was a pilot in the US Air Force from 1944 to 1968. The booklet inside was published in 1959.
This is a First Aid Kit For Airmen. It comes in an Army green steel box. There are locking closures on both sides. The two in the front open it so you can get into it. The two in the back unlock, but stay connected, so the lid is n...ot lost. There is a rubber seal inside the lid to make it waterproof. Instructions are printed on the inside lid. Item number : 6545-922-1200 is printed on the top of the steel box. "U S" and the logo for medical services is printed on the bottom of the box. There is a 152 page, 5 1/2 by 4 1/2 booklet (which might have been added to this first aid kit). It was published by the Department Of The Air Force, in November, 1959. Inside the kit are 9 boxes with gauze, compress, bandages, scissors, forceps, tourniquet, a snake bit kit, 4 viles of benzalkonium chloride, and a card of safety pins. There is a small folded instruction page and a contents check list. The steel box is 9 1/2 inches long by 6 inches wide by 3 inches high. This kit weighs 39 ounces.
This first aid kit is in very good condition. There are lots of light scuffs and handling marks on the outside of the steel box. But there no dents, no stains, and no rust. The four closures work perfectly. The 152 page booklet has no torn or bloody pages, but there is a small squiggly pen mark on the back cover. All of the small boxes inside look unopened and unused. The 4 viles are still sealed.
