This antique Chinese silk embroidered peacock bird, flowers square tapestry wall hanging dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of an off white silk fabric, with colorful pastel finely embroidered silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work wi...th Peking knot accents and a variety of beautiful flowers in each corner, peony, cherry blossom, daisy and water lily pad flowers. There are a pair of finely embroidered birds a peafowls in the center roundel medallion, a peacock, and peahen surrounded by flowers. The peacock is a symbol of divinity, rank, power, dignity and beauty. This exquisitely embroidered square tapestry textile wall hanging would have been used at a special event, celebration and is backed lined in a white silk fabric with a gold silk trim edging. The textile measures 29 by 29 inches. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a beautiful piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
