Schoenhut Teddy Roosevelt African Safari RHINO with Painted EyesThe rhino was introduced in 1909 with the Teddy Roosevelt sets. It is not a very good circus animal - not very trainable and hard to keep. The rhino must have sold well as it was produced for a long time in several designs. Like other animals, the rhino's production was continued after WWI with painted eyes. He is about 9 inches long, well strung, and poses well. Minor touch-ups to paint.
