The Perth Mint’s Australian Lunar Series II celebrates the Year of the Rooster in 2017, the tenth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Each coin has a new fineness of 99.99% pure silver, and is protected in a plastic capsules. The reverse of each coin depicts a rooster, a hen, and three chicks standing amongst bamboo foliage and flowers. The Chinese character for ‘Rooster’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Rooster’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’...s traditional ‘P’ mint mark. The obverse of the coin presents the likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by designer Ian Rank-Broadley. Each coin is individually encapsulated to maintain its striking condition.
