This is a Hard-To-Find - WWI U.S. Army Signal CorpsAIRPLANE-INTERPHONE Type SCR 57 - made by the Western Electric Company. Thesewere manufactured only in 1918, for use towards the end of WWI, and there werea total of only 3978 produced. Few of these over 100 year old military surplusdevices still exist. The SCR stands for Signal Corps Radio. The oak case measures 63/8" x 10 3/8" x 2 3/4" high. The Interphone was used betweenthe Pilot and the Observer as indicated on the schematic.... These Interphoneswere used mostly on DH-4 airplanes. The oak case is in excellent condition, it hasno warping and no loose corners.
