Elegant hand made embossed silver cup from Peru stands about 5 1/2" tall from the base to the tip of the handle, and is round at the top, with a hexagon shaped base. Beautifully hand embossed with flowers around the body of the cup, it was purchased at a Philadelphia sale where the owner said that it was a gift from a member of a prominent Peruvian family.
Silver or silver plated, the cup has no marks, and we never had the metal tested. Pretty much black with tarnish when purch...ased, we did some polishing, and found that despite the top being slightly out of round, the condition is good, though we made no attempt to polish the inside. Accented with a lovely scroll handle, the cup probably dates to the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th centuries, it is hard to say as we have never seen another.
A fabulous addition to a collection, the cup is offered with out reserve.
