Evans for 250 sharesof capital stock ($5 per share). Company capital was $25, 000, 000.Original ink signature of company vice president and treasurer.Certificate is about 8” x 11.5”. Black ink on cream-colored paperwith reddish-brown overprint. Small vignette left of company namewith an eagle perched... on a mountain.

The Bishop Creek Gold Company, which was incorporated in the Territory of Arizona, was owned byGaylord Wilshire and the Wilshire Bishop Creek Gold Company. TheBishop Creek Gold Mine was located at the headwaters of Bishop Creek, 18 miles west of Bishop, California, at an elevation of about 8, 500feet. The mine was owned by the Rocky Point Consolidated MinesCompany, also run by Gaylord Wilshire (1861-1927). The Bishop CreekMining District is on the east flank of the Sierra Nevada innorthwestern Inyo County, about 15 miles southwest of the town ofBishop. The principal source of gold in the district was the Wilshire-Bishop Creek Mine (aka Cardinal Mine), which was worked on a large scaleduring the early 1900s and again from 1933 to 1938. The gold oredeposits occur in a zone of quartzite, which is within graniticrocks. The ore bodies are up to eight feet thick and contain finefree gold and fairly abundant pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and arsenopyrite. The ore deposits have been developed toa depth of about 600 feet.
