Pre-Columbian basketry is comparatively quite rare; of all the many thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of textile pieces that have survived until our time, their basketry is almost never found, and rarely ever seen!
This is a Rare and Fine Nazca coiled basket, approximately 7 coils to the inch and 11 stitches to the inch!
Measures approximately 6" wide by approximately 3" in height<...br>"A finely crafted Nazca basket from southern coastal Peru. The bowl-form basket is tightly woven from natural plant fibers. The rim is decorated with a simple black spiral design. In good condition. A small tear at the rim along with other minor losses and edge wear. Slightly misshapen, but overall it is a lovely and rarely seen example of Nazca basketry".
