Certificate No. 320was issued to John W. Leckie for one share of capital stock ($25 pershare). Company capital was $2, 000, 000. Original ink signatures ofcompany president S. D. Eugle and secretary C. L. Engles. Certificateis about 7.5” x 11”. CompanyHistory:TheGuayabillas Mining Company owned gold and silver mines in the ElParaiso Region of southern Honduras. The Yuscarán Mining District is named after the mining village of Yuscarán founded in 1730. At its height, Yuscarán was a wealthy mining townand home to some of Honduras’s most influential families. It wasone of the first places in Honduras to get electricity in 1898 –even before the capital city of Tegucigalpa. Within the YuscaránMining District is an area of rich gold and silver producing veinsnear Guayabillas.
