Up for bid are a pair of vintage R. Madison Mitchell Redhead decoys that are unsigned but have the original paint and considering how old they are in really nice shape.
They were purchased directly from Mr. Mitchell in the 60s by one of the oldest hunt clubs on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Never rigged, they were stored in a shed until purchased by me in the early 70s. Since then they have been stored in a garage. Over the last 50 years, they have aged and show some storage wear and ...age cracks but are still a beautiful pair.
I have tried to show any of this wear - so please look closely at the photos!
DRAKE - Photo #5 shows an age crack that runs from the breast to the tail, Photo #6 shows a small crack on the right side of the breast, Photo #4 shows a small crack on the back.
HEN - Photo #10 shows where the head putty over the nails has cracked (very common), Photo #12 shows a slight crack around the neck.
