Here's a beautiful old fiddle came from an estate auction. Label inside reads; Joannes Jais Fecit Bulfani in Tyroli 1778. Back measures 14". has had a crack on top repaired. A few seams need glued. I've been around instruments my whole life, I spent 37 years as a professional band instrument repairman , till arthritis got the best of me. My wife spent 10 years as an orchestral repair person, so I've seen the inside of lots of instruments. This violin has something interesting insi...de I've never seen. There is a wood T attached to the top on the centerline about halfway between the bridge and tailpiece nut. 8th photo is taken of mirror showing it attached to the top. 9th photo is a crude drawing I made to try and describe it. I assume it's intended to improve tone or volume. Overall the violin is in pretty nice condition, a competent luthier will have no problem getting it playing again. Comes with a bad bow and cheap student case. Selling "as is".
