Regiment fought in major battles, incl. Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg.there is a monument at Gettysburg honoring the 12th.
French was from Pittsfield, NH.  29 years old.Enlisted 8/13/62 as a 2nd Lieutenant.On 9/8/62 was... commissioned into F Co. 12th Infantry.Promoted to 1st Lieutenant 4/22/63.
