Hello! I'm Jim Camp, owner/operator of the synaesthesia press. I'm a letterpress printer, I publish, and from time to time I'm a bookseller. Actually, it's all pretty much time-to-time with the synaesthesia press. I've been collecting books for 30 years now, and most of what I'm going to start offering here I've held for at least the last 20 years...some longer. It's time these titles found a new home. I'll start all auctions at 99 cents with no reserve on a 10-day auction, and no...I ...won't end any auctions early to sell off eBay. Please don't ask. If you're a collector, you might score! If you're a bookseller, you might grab something at (or below) wholesale! With that in mind, GOOD LUCK and let's go!
Offer two books:
1) Exterminator! by William S. Burroughs. NYC: Viking Press/Richard Seaver, 1973. First Editing in dust jacket. F/F. DJ unclipped, no remainder mark (if I recall this title was remaindered, but I might be wrong) and the book is clean and tight. I'd go as far as to say an unread copy. One of 7500 copies of the entire publication run, as noted in the Maynard/Miles bibliography.
2) Exterminator! by William S. Burroughs. NYC: Viking Press/Richard Seaver, 1973. Unrevised proofs/galleys. VG- in paper wraps that show a little wear/rubbing. Signed by Burroughs on the title page and is marked in ink in an unknown hand, Galley no. "4" with date of publication ("8/22/73") as well as the price "$6.95".
I decided to offer these two books as a lot. Even though Exterminator! was published mid-career, it's not the easiest book to find, especially in this condition. The galley? I've never seen one before, and I just spent some time on the Google Machine, turning up nothing. The Maynard/Miles bibliography doesn't list it, either. So if this one's number 4, did they print up 10? 12? Who knows. But I know it's scarce, especially signed! I was going to put a reserve on this auction, but I'm a serious seller, and even if it goes "too cheap", at least it's going to someone who cares about Burroughs...or a dealer who knows a better place for it.
Let's hope, at least.
