Elegant Footed Staffordshire Jardiniere, English Scenery Pattern, made by Booths A blue and white transfer printed jardinière in the English Scenery pattern made by Booths in Staffordshire. The pattern is of a bucolic scene featuring a cottage surrounded by woods in front of which there are cows resting in the grass and sheep grazing. In the distance there is a church steeple and perhaps a village. This pattern repeats two times aroun...d the circular body of the jardinière. The two identical scenes are divided by an hourglass shaped column of leaves. The landscape scenes extends from the bottom of the jar to the top which is marked by a rim of dark blue glaze. The jardinière is unusually large and elegant, sitting on three small claw feet, also in blue and white. The bottom mark, with a crown, dates it to the 1910-1920 period. There are no cracks or restoration. The bottom of the jar, in the inside, has two minor chips in the white glaze. The colors are strong and despite its age it has a lovely shine – which makes photography difficult. The jardinière is 7.78” wide at the rim; the circumference is 25”. Height (including the feet) is 8”.
