"Master Cat, or The Booted Cat" (Italian & French), commonly known in English as "Puss in Boots", is an Italian and later European literary fairy tale about a anthropomorphic cat who uses trickery and deceit to gain power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for his penniless and low-born master.First told back in 1550's, with later versions including a tale written in French at the close of the seventeenth century by Charles Perrault (1628–1703).The tale appeared in ...a handwritten and illustrated manuscript two years before its 1697 publication by Barbin in a collection of eight fairy tales by Perrault called Histoires ou contes du temps passe. The book was an instant success and remains popular."Puss in Boots" has provided inspiration for composers, choreographers, and other artists over the centuries.
The cat appears in the third act pas de caractère of Tchaikovsky's ballet The Sleeping Beauty, appears in the sequels and spin-off to the animated film Shrek. Puss in Boots is a popular pantomine here in the UK.

DELIGHTFUL WHITE FUR COVERING /COAT, OVER PAPIER MACHE, WOOD AND WITH GLASS EYES
INTERNAL CLOCKWORK / WIND UP MECHANISM
COMES WITH AN OLD KEY
WITH A CAREFUL WIND UP, AND POSITIONING OF THE STOP-START LEVER...THE DELIGHTFUL FIGURE WILL START TO BRUSH AND CLEAN HIS BOOT, WHILST TURNING HIS HEAD BACK AND FORTH.(occassionally he may hesitate to start, but once with a good wind up he runs fine....i tend to run him every few weeks.....NEVER BE FORCEFUL WITH THESE ANCIENT MECHANICAL PIECES)please try the following video link, to see a short clip of working action:

EXTREMELY SCARCE PUSS IN BOOTS FIGURE;STILL WITH HIS QUALITY MADE ANTIQUE BRUSH AND KNEE LENGTH BOOTS.
RARELY SEEN EARLY AUTOMATON FIGURE....CHARMING FACE....HE LOOKS SO NICE ON THE SHELF.
VERY NICE COAT, WITH ONLY LITTLE WEAR/LOSS...MOSTLY AROUND LOWER SECTION ON BACK OF HIS LONG DANGLY TAIL.
I ALWAYS DISPLAY & RUN HIM WITH THE INCLUDED DISPLAY STAND.....WITHOUT THIS, HE IS RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF BALANCING...AND OF COURSE WHEN WORKING, THE MOVEMENT WOULD TOPPLE HIM.
NOW SOME 100-125 YEARS OLD, SO HE WILL HAVE SOME OF THE EXPECTED NATURAL AGE WEAR AND LOSSES...BUT AS CAN BE SEEN IN ALL THE PICTURES, HE STILL LOOKS GREAT.
his coat is original and has not been re-covered; still has his nicely made boots and lovely cleaning brush.
antique glass eyes very slightly different; they may be tricky to see, but he retains both his folded ears
