Antique old wooden shafted Fred Stephens brassie. Smaller headed bassie with a fair amount of loft. Very solid club with a C3 swingweight. Very pretty club with much of its original finish remaining. F. Stephens is documented in Pete Georgiady's great reference work 'The Compendium of British Club Makers.' He is documented working from the teens through the early 1930's. Face remains with most of its original fine line scoring intact. Head stam...ps still readable. Leading edge with just a few scant play nicks. Full brass sole plate still well seated. Not very much wear to this sole plate, has a nice patina. No cracks in head, neck, or shaft. Shaft is stiff. Lead backweight with good patina. Shaft with a slight St. Andrews bend and is almost certainly the original. Total club length at 43 5/8 inches. Intact period leather wrap grip.
