It looks like a bookplate may have been removed in the front. There are no signatures of markings of any other kind. The gilt decoration on the spine is dulled. All 12 illustrations are present. The pages are clean and free of any foxing. The tissue guard over the frontspiece is present and in good condition. This is the First American edition, with October 1911 printed on the rear of the title page. A rare find in any condition. Synopsis Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up and Peter and Wendy are the stage play and novel which tell the well-known story of Peter Pan, a mischievous little boy who can fly, and his adventures on the island of Neverland with Wendy Darling and her brothers, the fairy Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys, the Indian princess Tiger Lily, and the pirate Captain Hook. The story was written by Scottish playwright and novelist J. M. Barrie, and was inspired by his friendship with the Llewelyn-Davies family. ---------- About the Author---------- J. M. Barrie(1860– 1937), was a Scottish novelist and dramatist. He is best remembered for creating Peter Pan, the boy who refused to grow up, whom he based on his friends, the Llewelyn Davies boys. He is also credited with popularising the name "Wendy", which was uncommon (especially for girls) in both Britain and America before he gave it to the heroine of Peter Pan.
