This scarce, vintage, flat painted eyed, 7 1/4 inches in overall length, with a fine multi-colored scale finish "Bass Ice Spear Fishing Decoy" was made were made by Elman "Bud" Stewart (1912-1999) of Flint Michigan, AKA Michigan's Legendary Lure Maker. Bud was so revered as a fishing lure and fish decoy maker, and also as a folk artisan that a book about his life and creations was written about him while he was still living. Bud's fishing lures and fish decoys always had the acti...on and / or paint simulating a crippled, wounded, or dying fish or critter. The circa is 1960s. Bass decoys by any maker are somewhat scarce. The condition is with much in use wear for being fished for many seasons under the Michigan winter ice. This decoy was varnish over by an unknown fisherman for further water proofing some time during its in use life. This decoy has the provenance of being the exact decoy shown on page #92 of the Bud Stewart book. The winning bidder pays $7 for quality packaging and USPS priority mail shipping.
