This wonderful, scarce, vintage, painted tack eyed, open mouth, with a unique paint finish, 7 inches in overall length "Ice Spear Fishing Decoy" was made by Elman "Bud" Stewart (1912-1999) of Flint Michigan, AKA Michigan's Legendary Lure Maker. Bud was so revered as a fishing lure and fish decoy maker, and also as a folk artisan that a book about his life and creations was written about him while he was still living. Bud's fishing lures and fish decoys... always had the action and / or paint simulating a crippled, wounded, or dying fish or critter. The circa is 1980's. It is with an articulating tail and 2 side fin flashers, making is a dynamic fish decoy in the water. This scarce colorful fish decoy by Bud with it's very heavy textured scale paint finish is probably a one of a kind, for Bud was always the ultimate innovator.
