This auction is for an extremely rare NOS Dynaco / Stereo Cost Cutters Black Box 410 kit with extra options: International 110/220 Volt power transformer (extra cost at purchase)Optional OEM Input level control kitHigh power output stage resistor & precision trim pot upgrade kit (not a factory option, but highly recommended for ALL 4xx and ST-150/300s to replace the original marginal design / degraded carbon composition resistors) Separate 220 Volt fan I pur...chased this personally from Stereo Cost Cutters in 1988, and a picture of the original invoice is shown. I never got past mounting the caps, fuse holders, etc on the main chassis, and the mechanical assembly of the rear panel. I'd built one a year or so earlier, really didn't need a 2nd one at the time, and life happened.
A scaled back version of the ST-416, some feel it's sonically superior because it deletes the speaker protection, etc. Reliability was increased over the Stereo-400 too by doubling the output transistors to 8, and making the fan standard. SCC bought the entire Dynaco company after they folded in 1978, some of the parts could still be NOS Dynaco.I ordered the 110/220V international power transformer (one of only 5 OEM Dynaco ones left at that time according to John Peterson the owner, and maybe forever) because I was going to run a dedicated 220 volt line for it. Includes the original manual from SCC which was a photocopy, and I'll also include the resistor upgrade instructions.
Cosmetically it's about 9/10 with a minor surface scuff picture taken before cleaning, that's not the scuff!) on the cover and a 4" scratch I touched up on the underside of the chassis. All major components are present as shown, but I haven't inventoried the entire small hardware package other than fuses, fuse caps (external fuse holders are already installed on the rear panel). Unfortunately the original 110 Volt power cord was misplaced, so I've included the one I removed from my personal 410.
Dynaco 410 amps themselves are rare, but NOS 400 series Dynaco or SCC/Dynaco kits don't show up at all. I haven't seen ANY in the 5 years I've been steadily following dynaco on eBay. Here's the chance to build that amp your daddy (Grandpa?) built back in the day with YOUR kids! Adjusted for inflation (X 2 every 20 years) this kit would be close to $1000 in today's money. Reserve is set at a modest $299.
Local pickup is encouraged for this auction, but pickup means just that - no "meet up at ..."!Questions? Bring em on, this is a major investment.
Shipping Details: Unless requested otherwise, the amp will be shipped with the power transformer *installed* (shipping almost doubles sending them separately). The rear panel assembly will be carefully assembled to the chassis and cover with a few chassis screws to hold it securely in place (not done yet pending the outcome of the auction for possible local pickup winner). The original box the amp was shipped in is plain brown with no branding, etc, but if you want it double boxed or cardboard wrapped a $25 or $10 handling fee will be charged respectively.

On May-08-19 at 11:34:45 PDT, seller added the following information:Clarification: The wired circuit boards shown are FACTOY wired amp boards. Dynaco built, tested and calibrated their amp boards to simplify assembly and improve reliability. Power supply, etc boards were usually left for the builder as seen in picture #5.
