A beautifully restored 1960s Mid Century Modern medicine cabinet by Sears & RoebuckIn the below paragraphs we are going to cover every aspect of this medicine cabinet from head to toe, here we go..This cabinet was worked on and meticulously cleaned for hours! The entire cabinet was disassembled and every piece that could come apart was taken apart, cleaned and inspected. Honestly it's absolutely beautiful and we are being extremely hard on it in the paragraphs below but we want you... to know exactly what you are purchasing. NOTE> this cabinet is meant to be recessed into the wall and will require a hole in the wall that is 24.5" wide x 16.5" tall x 3.5" deep. It is meant to be installed, not just hung on the wall surface. You can just screw it to the wall but it would not look anywhere near as nice as it would if properly installed into your home. EXTERIOR > We noticed very few minor ding and dents (see final photo). The dent is really not necessarily a dent it's more of a bend. The Chrome is in really good condition and just has very minor scratching when inspected up close with a flashlight at certain angles. We suppose this was done with something like a dry paper towels but the scratching is so fine it is really not even worth the mention. I've never really personally seen chrome that doesn't have this fine microscopic scratching on it. The chrome trim piece that lines the middle of the light has a very small bend and a few minor discolorations but they did not even show up in the photographs. The light shade is absolutely spotless and is made of a plastic material. The mirrors might have a dot or two the size of the tip of a pencil lead but these are not chips or scratches they are from age and occur from the inside of the glass. The back side that gets built into a wall and is never seen has some light surface rust in its nooks and crannies but this is just surface rust and it absolutely does not affect the structural Integrity of this cabinet. ELECTRICAL> The wiring and all connections have been inspected and tested. We disassembled the back of the light and checked every last inch of the wiring for splits or dry spots. The light shade was removed fully and cleaned inside and out as well as an inspection of the bulb sockets. There is no light bulb included in this auction you will have to purchase your own fluorescent tube.INTERIOR> the interior walls are absolutely lovely we cannot believe how clean and crisp the inside paint was with the exception of a little surface rust occurring on the inside facing portion of the door tracks (could only be seen with an inspection mirror) this rust cannot be seen by the user and does not affect the performance of any part of this cabinet. There's some minor scratching on the inside walls were the shelves Mount from removal and installation of the shelves. The shelves are a very very thin aluminum and they have some minor dings and dents throughout. The edges of the shelves where the mount is do have some dents from installation adjustment and removal throughout the years. They are perfectly sturdy and this does not affect their performance whatsoever. The shelves can easily be replaced with glass or wood at any time but they are extremely presentable currently and do not need to be replaced. We did this restoration ourselves and we might have been a little harsh on the description above so take a good look at the photos and decide for yourself what you think of the cabinet but I think we have pretty much covered everything of concern. Thank you!
