The movement clock was cleaned and checked for several weeks, has totally serviced(ultrasonically cleaned from dirt and old oil) and adjust by Professional clock specialist, has been oiled, mainspring cleaned and oiled with professional clock non abrasive oil, , clock is ready for another 50 years to go with taking care (oile...d every 2 years) I strongly recommend the set up(re-adjust) after delivery, Movement is marked with ST-(SETH THOMAS)-- movement 89C and is very strong runner .Clock chimes the Hours counting them and every half-hour, You also can see on picture how all clock is clean after cleaning including mechanism.Clack has nice Tick-Tack sound of work.I will including instructions! Movement is marked with ST-(SETH THOMAS), Clock measures 17 1/2" Base x 7" deep x 11 1/2" height . Roman Original Paper face is 5 1/2" in diameter with glass without any damage.I Exchange 2 springs and some bushings where done. Every piece on this clock is original.I will include a copy of ST"Guarantee Certificate"(see picture) .This particular is just a token of it's beauty and originality in past, People love to see something old, which comes with the style and elegance of the beginning 20th century, AMAZING, . History of Seth Thomas Adamantine Antique Mantel Clocks
In the 1860’s, French clocks in slate, onyx or marble cases became popular in the United States. These cases were expensive, so the American clock manufacturers produced similar looking cases made of iron or wood. These clocks have become known to collectors as “Black Mantel Clocks”, and were popular from 1880 to 1931.
Seth Thomas made clocks in marble cases for a short time, from 1887 to ca. 1895. They also made clocks in iron cases finished in black enamel, from 1892 to ca. 1895. Seth Thomas is well known for their “Adamantine” black mantel clocks, which were made starting in 1882. Adamantine is a celluloid veneer, glued to the wood case. Adamantine veneer was made in black and white, and in colored patterns to clock as wood grain, onyx and marble.Adamantine veneer was developed by the Celluloid Manufacturing Company of New York City, and was covered by U.S. Patent number 232, 037, dated September 7, 1880. Seth Thomas Clock Company purchased the right to use the Adamantine veneer in 1881
