Very Rare and stunningly beautiful, ca1900 German Tin Lithograph, J. Meier Horse Drawn Military Surf Boat / Life Saving Service Boat Penny Toy in outstanding, original condition.
This wonderful, Tin Litho Penny Toy measures approx. 4 3/4" long and 1 1/2” tall to the top of the military outrider’s head. It features a separately constructed, tin Life Saving Service style boat on a wheeled undercarriage pulled by a matching pair of dapple gray horses. One of... the horses is ridden by a soldier in military uniform. The Toy is not marked in any way but we have been told that it was manufactured by (Johann Philip) Meier Toys of Nuremberg, Germany.
An example of this wonderful Penny Toy was recently sold at auction by a major Toy Auction House for $840.00US.
This outstanding, Tin Litho Penny Toy is in excellent+ condition. There are no breaks, bends, cracks, physical damage or repairs of any kind. The surface lithography is very well well preserved and the Penny Toy displays beautifully. Please see the scans below for a good representation of the form and outstanding condition of this rare German Toy.
