Very Rare and stunningly beautiful, ca1910 German Tin Lithograph, J. Meier Open Air Touring Car / Limousine Penny Toy in near mint condition.
This wonderful, Tin Litho Penny Toy measures approx. 3 1/4" long and 2” tall to the top of the passenger’s head. It features a separately constructed, tin driver and passenger. The Toy carries the conjoined “JM” mark on the doors and text that reads “Ges. Gesch.” on the bottom of both the driver and the pass...enger.
While we are not Penny Toy experts, we have found an example of the wonderful Penny Toy that was sold by a major Toy Auction House where it was identified as having been manufactured by (Johann Philip) Meier Toys of Nuremberg, Germany.
This outstanding, Tin Litho Penny Toy is in near mint condition. There are no breaks, bends, cracks, physical damage or repairs of any kind. The surface lithography is exceptionally well preserved with two small spots of surface loss on the right hand side of the driver’s bench seat. Otherwise the surface is without flaw and the Penny Toy displays beautifully. Please see the scans below for a good representation of the form and outstanding condition of this rare German Toy.
